#3. Make sexual choices that won’t result in unintended pregnancy.

If you know you or your partner aren’t ready for a child, make sure you don’t participate in conceiving one. This could mean abstinence or sexual activities that don’t involve sperm entering a vagina. If you are going to have PIV sex, use protection. Make sure you’re aware of the failure rates of your chosen form(s) of contraception and the common mistakes to avoid. Talk to your partner about all of these issues, especially about how he or she would respond to an unintended pregnancy. If in the event of unintended pregnancy your partner would want an abortion or want you to get an abortion, take that seriously–and don’t let yourself end up in that situation.
